A man flagged down police Wednesday morning after bullets went through his vehicle and hit him in the back.
Officers were investigating a traffic accident on I-20 near Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard when they were approached by the victim, who had multiple gunshot wounds, according to Atlanta police.
The 37-year-old man told the officers he was shot in the area of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital by ambulance shortly before 2 a.m.
“Officers located (the victim’s) vehicle in the 400 block of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and found evidence of drug activity in the vehicle,” police spokesman Officer Steve Avery said.
Detectives went to the hospital to learn more about what happened, but the victim was unable to give them any other details, Avery said.
According to Channel 2 Action News, the victim initially told officers he was driving when he was shot. Detectives at the hospital were unable to confirm that account Wednesday morning, Avery said.
